WBNC News Headquarters is on Front Street and that is usually where we broadcast from, but since we were so close to the lightning strike, we don't have phones or internet, so we are operating out of a separate facility.
According to a description from a producer the strike was somewhere in the backyard of a house on Front Street and the thunder and lightning happened at the exact same time. It was a very loud bang, and the smoke detectors went off.
Soon after, a heavy police and fire presence appeared on the street and began to examine the outside of the houses looking for any signs of a lightning hit. After searching for about 20 minutes, and finding no lightning strike damage, the fire and police left the scene.
If you have any photos or video of the lightning today, we'd love to see it! Send it to email@example.com, or tag us on it on Facebook.
